Oh no! The price of fame again. I'm being followed!! HELP!!

Matt's little band

Whenever Matthew is really quiet, he is usually doing something really naughty. One day I was cooking in the kitchen and I noticed Matt was very quiet in the lounge room. So I took a peek. This is what he did...

He was arranging his two best friends, the blue sheep and Eeore. He put a guitar on them each and he himself went to his drum :) My son's little band.

Descendant of a Violent Rebellion and Baby's Green Butt ( A must read)

Over breakfast today, Kim (our housemate) was asking me about the Hakka people (my root). So I told her whatever I knew and said I am a descendant of the Taiping (pronounced as Tuy-ping) Revolution*. And Tim went, 'Yeah, they used typists to boycott the secretaries.'

I think my husband is very funny :) So after a long roar of laughter..I went on to tell HER whatever I knew about the revolution to her.

Somewhere in that conversation, Tim snapped a pic of Matthew with his phone. As we looked at it, I made a remark of how he looked so Mongolian in this pic.

Then Kim told me, we ARE Mongolian by descent. The Chinese and the Korean. The way you can tell is that anyone with a Mongolian descent is born with a green butt. (Remember I mentioned in a previous post that babies have green butts?) It was then that I found out, not all babies have green butts! That explains why Tim was so puzzled when I told him all kids have green butts and how my friends and I used to pull down each others' pants to tease each other about how green our butts were! (I am in the library and laughing hysterically as I type..yes people are staring)

So yeah, we had a fun time at breakfast this morning :)

I welcome all comments. So is it true? Only Koreans and Chinese are born with green butts?

*The Taiping Rebellion was a large-scale revolt in China from 1850 to 1864, during the Qing Dynasty, by an army led by heterodox Christian convert Hong Xiuquan. (Quoted from Wikipedia)

My first week as a real home-maker

Tim has started work and this is the first week of me being a real home-maker and stay home mom. Without my mother to cook for us, without the help of a maid and actually having to care for a child all by myself (well, almost). I actually clean, cook (no eating out at all, impressive eh?) , care for Matt and do the laundry too!

I must say.. I'm acually enjoying it! Tim and I were very nervous about me doing this. But Thank God (we got people praying for us about this). I'm ok. I think Matt's not finding it too bad either. I thought I would lose my temper and yell and stress Matt out. But I prayed and asked God to help me gentle and patient with Matt. It's really neat, a few times I started yelling and I would stop, breathe and talk nicely again. Matt's responding really well. That can only be God cos if it was up to me I would yell and carry on.

Anyway, for those of you who are interested. This is our routine. We have breakfast together in the morning then Tim leaves. Twice a week I drive Tim to work so I can have the car. Every morning I either take Matt to a playground or to a playgroup (I love playgroups). We go home for lunch, Matt has his nap, then we just hang out (while I do house work in between). Tim comes home and I cook. Tim bathes Matt and puts him to bed, then TV time! (It's almost like playing the SIMS but this is real life)

I'm settled into a ladies Bible Study group and Tim into a men's prayer group. We are also starting a Tertiary Student group at home (had our first gathering and it was great). It's all looking very good. Tim finds working here a LOT more relaxed than in Malaysia of course and he's enjoying his work. This is our lives now. We are very thankful.

Oh by the way, We have decided not to have broadband internet at home lest I get distracted from real life :)

Here comes to the post!

Yes! Tim has found a job :) For those of you who have loved us and prayed with us...THANK YOU!

The Economic Crisis is really affecting Australia in such a massive way. People losing jobs everywhere. Watching the news is just depressing. And for Tim to get a job now is pretty amazing. He's applied for plenty of jobs, every single one comes back saying too many people applied. But this particular job he got, it was quite unique. He saw the ad in the newspaper, he told me 'I want this job'. When you read the job specs, it's just TIM! Just so Tim.

He wrote out his application and when he had put it in an envelope, he asked me to lay hands on the job envelope and pray with him (the only application we prayed over like that). We did that and somehow I just knew he would get it. On the closing date, he called up the company (the only application he did this for) and asked them if his application had been received and asked if many people applied. The answer was Yes, they got it and NO, not many people applied. We were quite surprised.

A few evenings after that at like 9pm, Tim was checking his email and he went 'I got an interview! for that job!' (the only interview he got from all his applications). We were so happy. He told me the date, I took one one look at the calendar. It's TOMORROW morning! What would have happened if he didn't check his email that night.

Anyway, he went for the interview last Friday. Two other people were interviewed. He came home and felt really good about it. We prayed and felt really peaceful through the weekend. And Monday morning 8:50am, he got a phonecall and he gave me the thumb-up while still on the call. I was jumping up and down but had to stay very quiet :)

When we got the house we got, we were quite surprised at the location. It's not something we would have chosen. But now we know why. Our place is at the exit from the city to the Highway and the road to the town Tim is working at.

It's in another town..haha but it's only 15-20 minutes away from our house.

All in all, I can only say is, it IS God. No other way. We've only been in Australia for a bit more than two months and we're settled! We came with no job, no place to stay, no car, NO CLUE. God just blows our mind yet again! Arghhhhhh! THANK YOU GOD and thank you all who prayed for us :)

Oh also, we're now going to quite a great church. I'm all plugged in now. Bible Study wth the ladies, playgroups etc. Love it. Lots of rooms to serve too!

Having some students over at our place for dinner this Sunday. The beginning of a little fellowship of students? hehe Exciting.

Seeing Jesus?

A month ago, my sister in law got married in a Catholic church. While there, Matt was pointing at all the paintings of Jesus and I told him 'it's Jesus'. so he repeated 'Jesus' over and over. That's all it was. We didn't say anything more after that except we would mention 'Jesus' in our prayers of course.

Two days ago, when we were praying before having our breakfast, Matthew pointed at the glass door or what's behind the glass door, I don't know. He went 'Jesus, Jesus!' and he kept staring out of the glass door. He usually says 'Amen' when we're done praying. But this time he didn't. He was so fixated on what he saw and he just kept going 'Jesus, Jesus'. We didn't see anything of course. He was pointing towards the glass door and outside was the fence and a tree and the sky.

After that. anytime we ask him where Jesus is. he will go and point there. We are not making anything of it for sure but we do wonder :)
